Best Nightlife in San Diego

San Diego has nightlife available for those people who can dance until dawn and those who enjoy calling it a night much earlier in the evening. With such a wide variety of things to do at night, everyone can find something that will interest them during the hours that they want to be out on the town.

Here are some of the best nightlife places in San Diego:

Belly Up

This casual nightclub offers music from upcoming artists in many different genres. One night there may be rock in the air while other evenings may include jazz or reggae music. Some of the popular performers of the past include the Rolling Stones and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. No one needs to worry about dressing the part at this nightclub as the only requirement is that everyone must wear shoes.

The Tipsy Crow

The three bar areas are filled with antiques, art and leather sofas and people are encouraged to dress well if they want to mingle with all the A-listers that arrive through the night. There are pool tables near the main bar, a dance floor on the lower level, and a VIP lounge upstairs.

Rooftop by STK

By day, The Rooftop by STK will sweep you away with stunning views and creative regional cuisine for breakfast and lunch. By night, The Rooftop by STK is San Diego's ultimate rooftop destination and nightlife experience high above the city, with live DJs spinning underneath the star-lit San Diego sky at the see-and-be-seen nightclub and lounge. Rooftop STK is Andaz San Diego's newly refreshed and rebranded poolside lounge that offers incredibly picturesque views of the Downtown San Diego skyline. It is a sexy, swanky and scenic spot to enjoy handcrafted cocktails, and delicious dishes from a menu specially created by Executive Chef J.C. Colón.

Bang Bang

Guests make their way through Bang Bang via a tunneled staircase complete with sounds of a Tokyo subway in the background. This space is divided into three separate sections including an Asian fusion restaurant, a sushi bar, and a theater where music and movies are played. aInside the theater is the largest disco ball West of the Mississippi. This ball is five and a half feet wide and people dance the night away underneath it as they listen to music being played by the best DJs in the area.

Moonshine Flats

Country fans will want to put on their cowboy boots and hats and venture over to Moonshine Flats for a night to remember. At 10,000 square feet, there is space for everyone to have fun. Within the multiple levels, there are five bars, a large dance floor, raised platforms, a large stage, and dozens of interactive elements. People can sit in old time barber chairs as they enjoy a drink or two before playing a game of pool or playing an arcade game. Before the night comes to an end, everyone will find themselves on the dance floor dancing to the beat of the country music playing through the air.

The Grass Skirt

The Grass Skirt is new to the San Diego dining and nightlife scene and already people love it. It's a hidden tiki bar located inside Good Time Poke, a grab-and-go poke spot that is open in the evenings until 2:00 a.m. The goal is to use traditional tiki elements interlaced with seductive details to transport guests to a place of eternal sunset complete with fire pit tables and swings. Yes, expect a variety of tropical cocktails here (including a secret cocktail menu that you may want to ask about). They also have over 150 rums including some very rare and pricey options.

Onyx Room and Thin

Two clubs in one, Onyx Room and Thin occupy two floors of the same space, with Thin at street level and Onyx below. Both are trendy spots that draw the ultra-cool who want to party with inventive cocktails in hand and plenty of eye candy located throughout the room. Different nights feature different music styles, from jazz to hip-hop and old-school. One cover charge gets you into both. As an upscale nightclub, Onyx has a dress code so skip the beachwear. Thin is built for big crowds while Onyx is still happening, but more lounge-y. Register online for the guest list which may feature a discounted or no cover charge.

Nothing slows down in San Diego once the sun sets. In fact, this is when the party really starts and people will find that they can always find a wonderful place to spend time with a drink in their hand as they dance and laugh until they are ready to call it a night.
