San Diego is an amazing place to visit and there are quite a few things that everyone must do while they are in the city. The best part is that everything is not the same, so no one will get bored as they explore the magnificence of this beautiful place.
Here are the best things to do in San Diego:
San Diego Zoo and Safari Park
This infamous zoo is one of the best in the country and people can walk around the one hundred acres as they watch the animals walking around and frolicking in their exhibits. The zoo has the most rare and endangered animals with no other zoo in the world coming close to the same number of animals.
Visitors can walk down the Monkey Trail, Hippo Trail, and Tiger Trail as they explore or they can take a thirty-five-minute guided bus tour through the zoo. The Skyfari is the best way to capture a bird’s eye view of the park though, because this aerial tram goes from one end of the park to the other.
Inside the zoo, people will see polar bears, giraffes, elephants, giant pandas, koalas, hippos, rhinos, gators, and much more.
The safari park is to the North of the zoo and there, people will see the beloved animals from Africa. The lions, cheetahs, elephants, and others roam around fairly freely as everyone watches them in their practically natural setting. In addition to the regular safari, the park offers a zipline and caravan safari that everyone will enjoy.
USS Midway Museum
The USS Midway is the longest serving American aircraft carrier and since San Diego is such a huge military town, it is no surprise that this ship calls this area home. The ship has sixty different exhibits as well as twenty-nine aircrafts that are completely restored on board.
Guests can take a self-guided tour which takes them past the sleeping quarters, engine room, the ship’s jail, and the flight control room. Everyone will want to try out one of the flight simulators to see how well they can fly an aircraft on their own.
Gaslamp Quarter
Gaslamp Quarter is comprised of sixteen blocks of the city from L Street to Broadway. This popular area is where people will find shops, theaters, art galleries, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. While there is plenty for people to do here during the day, the action really heats up during the evening and late-night hours.
Anyone looking for some relaxation will want to venture over to La Jolla Shores for time in the sun and the sand. This beach is a mile long and many people end up surfing, snorkeling, and kayaking while they are there. This is the perfect destination for lazy picnics and adrenaline filled volleyballs games.
There is much more to do while in San Diego, but as long as a person has these on their itinerary, they will see some of the best that the city has to offer. Everything else will just add to the magic of the trip.
