What a great country - Moscow, Russia

Moscow, Russia

The city streets of Moscow are busy every day of the year, even in the middle of the night. And yes, while this city has had its issues over the years, that only adds to the thrills that you can discover during a visit. Start in the center of the city and work your way out or reverse it and see only the sights you are most interested in. There is no right or wrong way to explore or enjoy this city and only you know what is best for you.

Red Square is where most people begin in Moscow, as this is where much of the city’s history came to life. There are numerous attractions nearby, including St. Basil’s Cathedral, the Kremlin, and Lenin’s Mausoleum. You might want to check out the State Historical Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, and Gorky Park, but make sure you leave time for GUM, which is a department store that was constructed back in the 1890s. There are more than two hundred boutiques inside, and you can find something at every price point.

The temperatures in Moscow are comfortable in the summer, while the winters are quite cold. In the summer, it is common to see temperatures in the mid-seventies, but winter months bring those temperatures plummeting all the way down to negative digits at times. It does snow during the winter and there is a decent chance of rain throughout the spring, summer, and fall.

Peak travel season in Moscow is during the summer, so if you are looking to save some money, you are better off traveling there during the spring or the fall. During those seasons, you will also see fewer people, so you will not stand in lines for as long. While the winters can be brutal, it is one of the best times to get the authentic Moscow experience, so you might want to try it if you are brave enough!
